Not accepting new clients

As a relational therapist with previous experience as a youth worker and advocate, I believe and have experienced that at the center of most suffering is a failure of belonging. When trauma or other significant difficulties occur, we can take on beliefs and ways of being that are bound by the feeling that we are alone and unable to access the world of belonging, both within ourselves and in relationship with others. We find it almost impossible to honor all parts of ourselves and to feel free to accept those parts. Often the most difficult first obstacle is the pain involved in recognizing this. My aim as a therapist, then, is to create a space where a client’s experiences may fully belong and they may feel understood, believed, and valued for who they are, in the way they choose to be.

My experiences both professional and personal have informed my therapeutic lens, which is at its root trauma-informed, attachment-based, and systemic. I am also an integrative and collaborative therapist, meaning that I engage a variety of interventions and modalities based on the needs and goals that a client identifies for themselves through dialogue with me. My previous work as a therapist at a long-term day treatments for adolescents and their families have left me with a great deal of awareness and grit-- as many of our clients and the adults in their lives arrived in a place of immense hopelessness and suffering-- as well as familiarity with a rather wide variety of issues and concerns.

I currently focus my work on clients 12 years and older, both individuals and families, who are seeking support for struggles related to trauma, depression, self-injury and suicidal ideation, family relationships, Reactive Attachment Disorder, anxiety, body dysmorphia, grief and loss, LGBTQIA+ issues (and other identity-related issues), and social anxiety, among others. In session, I always bring unconditional positive regard, authenticity, and creativity. With my past clients, I was known for my loud laugh, expressiveness, spontaneity, and high tolerance for the weird, scary, and embarrassing.

In my free time I enjoy reading (and buying obscene amounts of books), gardening and using my hands outdoors, making art, going on solo road-trips, spending time with my dog, and planning my next Halloween costume.
