Accepting new clients (starting the week of September 1st)
Hi there! My name is Shelby (she/her). I’m a therapist who brings curiosity, humor, and care into the therapy room and my work with you. I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be yourself. I strive to create a space that is genuine, accepting, and meaningful. Somewhere you can explore and unpack your life and experiences and find insight to live more fully and freely, in a way that’s true to you. And, hopefully have a few good laughs about the mess of it all along the way.
I’m a relational therapist, which means I believe our past and present relationships (including the one we’ll build together) shape how we live and see ourselves. Our work isn’t about dwelling on the past, it’s about noticing the patterns that keep showing up, understanding where they come from, and deciding how you want to move forward.
I’m not here to be an expert on your life, I’m here to help you understand yourself more fully. That means making sense of your emotional world, internal conflicts, defenses, and patterns that may be getting in the way of the changes you want to make. Therapy isn’t about following a set path, it’s about uncovering what matters most to you and working together to move with intention to who you want to be. I believe there is no single definition of a good life. My hope is to help you figure out what that looks like in your terms.
I primarily work with adults and have a special interest in supporting LGBTQIA+ folks with navigating depression, anxiety, identity exploration, self-growth, and life transitions. My approach resonates with people who feel “stuck” and are curious about themselves, open to deep reflection, changing old patterns, and creating real change.
Outside of therapy, I try to find laughter and joy wherever I can. You might find me hanging out with my cats and my girlfriend, playing guitar or a cozy video game, walking around a lake, performing improv on the weekends. Or most likely on a mission to find the best sandwich in Minneapolis.
I am currently earning my Master’s Degree in Counseling and Psychological Services from Saint Mary’s University and am under the supervision of Krista Jorgenson, MA, LPCC.
